Some recent projects:

Design of thermoplastic processing machinery

Designed and specified equipment to manufacture continuous fiber tailored blanks, consolidate the blanks and thermoform/mold the blanks into a finished shape. Equipment consisted of an automated lay up machine, a heated and cooled press for blank consolidation and a blank heating oven and press for forming.

Developed solution for modifications on an existing winding machine

Worked with a client to refurbish and extend the length of an existing winding machine. Designed the extension and made drawings for required parts. Worked with the client's machine shop to fabricate the required components. Worked with the client to install and checkout the finished parts. Worked with the client to install required electrical and software changes.

Technical Feasibility Study

Performed an initial Phase I study to determine the technical feasibility of a new concept for filament winding. Continued into a more in depth Phase II study with a preliminary design for the composite product and then developed conceptual solutions for several technical and logistical problems identified in the Phase I study.

Designed tracking unit for existing fiber creel

Worked with a client to add a carriage tracking unit to his existing fiber creel for use on his filament winding machine. Designed and made drawings for the new tracking unit. Worked with the client to have the new unit fabricated by a local contractor. Helped client install and checkout the new tracking creel unit.

Control system recommendations

Performed an analysis of a client's existing machine control system. Made recommendations for changes to improve machine performance.
